LONDON
For this look, I was channeling fashion style from the streets of London or what I would imagine London street fashion to look like. I’m thinking rock ‘n’ roll, grunge, plaid prints, textures, leather, heavy fabrics, vintage pieces with a hint of bad arse vibes.
It was my mission to come up with my own interpretation of London street fashion with items already found in my closet. I don’t know about you, I enjoy fashion and love contributing new items into my closet but it’s a goal of mine to become more of a conscious buyer. “Do I really need a new plaid coat for this fall season?” “Am I just buying this new dress so I can take pictures and post it on my blog?” Being mindful is seeing ways in which I can contribute less to waste. One of the many solutions is making less purchases and wearing what I already have. And I have plenty. Being mindful is taking the time to reflect and ask myself, why am I making a purchase. Ninety-nine percent of the time, a purchase is made because I like it and it makes me happy. There’s never a need.
I took a look inside my closet and found my Zara plaid wool coat I purchased two years ago. One of my favourite, a Ramones tee I purchased from a shop in Little Tokyo, LA. A lot of wear and tear as I can see holes forming under the armpit area but it’s not going to stop me from rocking it. I found the plaid skirt online at H&M and instantly fell in love with the colour scheme. I just never had the opportunity to wear it out. Lastly, my black chunky buckle boots from Zara I bought this year because I destroyed my previous ankle boot from excessive wear. Every time I wear these boots, I receive ample of compliments and I love how it creates an edgy vibe to my look. I must say, I’m pretty proud of what I was able to ensemble. A trendy fall look inspired by London street fashion. And the best part, everything was found from my very own closet!
Style Tip: Before you make any purchases for the season, have a look in your closet. I bet you can create many fashionable looks from what you already have. If your closet is a hot mess, designate some time to clean and organize it. Only keep the items that fit and vibes with you. Items that are in good condition but you can’t fit or it doesn’t feed your soul, please donate it or give it to a friend or family member who can put it into good use.
