Yo! It's your girl, Sammy!

Yo! It's your girl, Sammy!

A little about Sammy.

Recalling my childhood memories, I remember my dad buying me Levis jeans and Birkenstock. I would try my absolute best to keep my Levis and Birkenstock, fresh! No grass stains on my Levis, no nasty toe-prints on my Birkies. But yo, it's rather difficult not to fall when you play on the grass. Also, how can you tell a child to avoid sand! Sand is everywhere! The park was my home away from home and staying clean was not going to happen. Good thing I had a stylish dad. My dad, he was different from other dads... he was and still is, an unique specimen of a man. He wore turtle necks when it was scorching hot, purchased expensive designer jeans before designer jeans were poppin’. My dad wore leather cowboy boots and purchased expensive Rayban aviators. Not to mention, my dad loved him some leather and gold chains!! I remember him buying my sister an expensive Danier leather jacket when she was in the 9th grade. The damn jacket cost $500.00!! The good thing with my pops, he would always hook me up with a fresh pair of Levis and new Birkenstock, even if they were a little dirty and not hella dirty! Yes, you can say I was… SPOILED!!! Growing up, I never had to wear my sister’s hand me downs. When it came to shopping, he was the one who took my siblings and I to the mall. There were no limits. My dad gave us the freedom to purchase whatever we desired. I chose my own outfits. Not once did he ever tell me, what to wear or what not to wear. I recognized, it is because of him, I have great fashion sense and the ability to choose items and beautifully put an outfit together. I was never restricted. I was given free range to express myself and explore what vibes with me. Therefore, THANK YOU PAPA!

I've been asked and told countless times, "I like your outfit!" "I like your lipstick! Where did you buy it?" "I like your earrings!" "Where do you go to get your hair balayage?" "Are those your real nails?" "Where do you go to get your nails done?" "Where's your next travel destination?" I get asked from my friends, colleagues, the baristas at the coffee shop I frequent, to complete strangers passing by me on the streets. Friends and colleagues tell me, "Girl! Why aren't you doing a fashion or lifestyle blog?!" My response, "Yo! I have one, well kind of, sort of... I have an account on Instagram. Just don't follow me yet, I don't have too much content right now. My sister hates being my photographer!" REAL TALK, I believe what everyone tells me. 100%. I know I have great fashion sense and I can piece items together. Friends come to me for fashion advice. I also know, I have impeccable taste in music and I can make a sick playlist! Yes, I travel plenty and I may know a few cool spots to hit up. I know all this. It's just that, "Why would anyone want to know where I bought my clothes, my next travel spot, where I like to eat and my latest discovery of music?" It took me awhile, and trust me I’ve prayed and asked the Universe multiple times for answers. What is my purpose? What feeds my soul? What is it that I’m good at? How can I contribute in this lifetime? I think this is a start. I know this for sure. Receiving comments about my fashion style and being asked for fashion advice allows for connection. It’s surface level at first but with time you build towards a deeper connection and trust. A compliment about the outfit I’m wearing can lead to an open conversation about our insecurities. With time, a friendship begins. A lot of people have expressed that they feel at ease when they talk to me. They feel as though they can be themselves when they are around me. Open and vulnerable. Here is where I will continue to do that. I can connect, inspire, and help people - my way - sammysamstyle. I'm not saying for you to duplicate what I'm wearing, go buy what I think is hip, or travel to destinations found on my bucket list. Don't do that. What I want for you, is to be inspired and pursue your own journey into self-discovery - find your true AUTHENTIC SELF. What feeds your inner child? What makes you laugh? What makes you happy? What makes you, YOU. BE YOU. To even start this blog, I had to go deep and get in touch with my inner child. Discover what little Sammy would like for adult Sammy. I know this for sure. Little Sammy wants me to express myself creatively because I am a creative soul. My creativity is expressed with the pieces I put together to complete an outfit. It's all in the details, from how I style my hair, how I wear my makeup, choice of jewelry and handbag, to the pair of heels to complete my look. It's me expressing myself. My true authentic self. As well, my inner child wants me to continue to write, paint, dance in front of the mirror and make sick playlists. Little Sammy wants me to be happy. To have self-love, self-respect and self-worth. It's a path I continue to explore in this present moment. Only by continuing to do so, can I truly inspire and help people. This is what the Universe wants for me.

“Discover your inner beauty & vibes.”

With love, I hope to inspire and to help you discover your true authentic self. What feeds your inner child. What makes you, YOU. That's all I want. Your girl is here to spread love and vibes - sammysamstyle.
